The year was 1959, and Al Monti had a dream...
Al Monti realized the need to form an accordion asociation. He recognized the need to bring music studios, private teachers, and music stores together to put forth a program for the improvement of teaching methods, a code of ethics and better communication. His dream was realized in the IMA yearly competition. This year marks the 50th year of Al Monti's dream and although this contest started out with just accordions, it has now blossomed with the addition of piano, voice, violin, guitar, percussion, brass and woodwinds. The IMA couldn't have survived without the vision of its original founders and, more importantly, the IMA continues to thrive because of its members, teachers and their talented & gifted students. Join us this year as we celebrate our 50th Anniversary!
