2020 Contest cancelled due to covid-19
We're very saddened to announce that this year's contest has been cancelled. Pat received a call May 10th from Wheaton College and was told that all Summer Events have been called off.
Several teachers have suggested doing the competition through video entries. That's a wonderful idea but the logistics are overwhelming. There would be close to 800 videos which would need to be divided and sent to the correct judge and grouped for a specific class. Then, there's the matter of the awards. We have deliberated over this and decided that the amount of work and the fact that the Board cannot get together to work on this, the amount of time and effort involved is too much for one or two people to handle remotely.
Sadly, the IMA will have a negative bank balance since some expenses cannot be recouped. Next year's competition will depend on raising the necessary funds which is difficult because of the financial state all of us are currently in. Please stay tuned for possible Fund Raising Promotions.
One idea is have the IMA recruit corporate/retail sponsors, in return for their information on our web site and perhaps an information table at the contest. Our thinking is to create a letter in regards to the IMA, and distribute it to Music Publishers, Music Distributors, local music stores, piano stores, etc. If anyone would like to help us on this endeavor, please feel free to contact us. Perhaps you may have different ideas to help raise the needed funds. Your assistance would be greatly appreciated.
If you would like to donate, please mail a check to:

We'd be grateful for any amount small or large. We pray this wonderful organization which has supported music students for 60 years, will not fall victim to this horrific virus. On behalf of the IMA Board of Directors, Thank you,
